Finding Magic

​Magic is an experience, it’s the experience of finding oneself alive, within a world that is itself alive. I was in a bad place in my mind, with a long history of Diabetes, and a recent diagnosis of Cancer, I was led to Genoa Laser Therapy by a friend. After the consultation process and 20 minutes in the bed, I had found my Magic, and I signed up for twice a week treatments. I felt energized, robust even, I had a positive outlook back in my mind, and my sugars had stabilized. Instead of pinballing back and forth they became more consistent and I even did without the Metformin as treatments progressed. Herniated Disc

Two weeks ago I ended up in emergency with a herniated disc. I couldn’t walk so my husband made me an appointment with Genoa Laser Therapy. I truly am grateful to have had Crystal and Josh; they were full of knowledge and I truly believe they helped me heal faster than if I had not gone. Knee Injury and More

In November 2017 after three months of having a very painful, unstable and swollen right knee, I had an MRI and was diagnosed with an oblique tear in my meniscus, a tearing of the ACL, with fraying and thinning of cartilage, and sub-chondral cysts. Previous to this I was diagnosed with moderate to severe arthritis in the patella region. A doctor and a specialist both told me I was probably headed for a knee replacement. It was very painful.
Under the care of my physiotherapist I was referred to Genoa Laser Therapy. I went for treatments twice a week  for several months and with an over the counter knee brace and hiking sticks I could once again engage in my hiking pastime.
Life interfered (dealing with my aging parents in the interior so lots of driving and other events) and I stopped going for treatments for a year. I started to experience more pain in my knee again and had other medical issues to deal with (which turned out to be not that serious and manageable).
I went back to Genoa Laser last fall 2019, under the guidance of my physiotherapist and I also began using pod treatments (with oxygen) regularly for my fibromyalgia and arthritis in other parts of my body. I went twice a week for 12 full treatments with a laser therapist. I used the 'shaker' machine for inflammation as well. I am now going for full treatments about every two weeks and I can see that in the future, I might be going only once a month with more depending on what is happening with my arthritis journey.
I have not felt so good in a very long time. I sleep better. I have less general pain all over. 
My arthritis in my neck is not as debilitating. 
I still wear my knee brace and use hiking sticks when I am I on my hikes (45 minutes to 1 ½ hours at least 5 times per week) and I wear a knee sleeve under my clothing if I am going to be sitting for a long time.  
I do gentle yoga 3 to 5 times a week  (the wonders of You Tube), stretch everyday and try to keep to an anti-inflammatory diet. There are so many other things that it helps me with. I have had other laser treatments from other professionals but I always felt that it was not useful and not really well researched, but the research and the training that everyone here has is way beyond what I have previously experienced.  
I see laser treatments at Genoa Laser Therapy as a part of my life forever. I have more energy and feel a lot younger than my 70 years!

Genoa Laser Therapy alleviated the pain...

​Having a positive attitude is what every cancer patient is told will improve their chances of survival – but it is impossible to be positive when you feel horrible. Genoa Laser Therapy alleviated the pain and side effects of toxic chemotherapy treatment and is the main reason I’ve been able to stay healthy and active during the most stressful period of my life.  Josh is knowledgeable, compassionate and dedicated to helping his patients and his community. There are no words to express how privileged we are to have Genoa Laser Therapy in the Cowichan Valley.

After 5 sessions with Josh, I noticed something amazing...

I was involved in a serious car accident in 2006 in which I fractured both femurs and sustained crush injuries to my right foot. After all the surgeries I was left with metal plates on both femurs, screws in my right kneecap, and screws inside my right foot. They really did a good job putting me back together. The aftermath was scar tissue everywhere, and because of that, my mobility is limited by a 30% lesser bend in the knees. I also have extensive nerve damage. In addition, the functioning of my right foot has been seriously impaired- the ankle has little flexibility and the foot felt disconnected from my body. None of these situations have changed since the healing from the surgeries.

​After 5  sessions with Josh and the Thor Laser protocols focussing on my area of injury, I noticed something amazing: I am able to flex the toes on my right foot for the first time in almost 10 years. This is a really big deal for me because I'm able to walk better, and more able to adapt to the terrain underfoot. I think it has also improved my capacity to react to unexpected challenges such as catching myself while stumbling, etc.

After only two treatments, my vertigo is totally gone...

​Thank you so much for introducing me to photobiomodulation. After only two treatments, my vertigo is totally gone and my pain levels have reduced 90%. In addition, after the second treatment I felt I had a lot more energy for the next 24 hours. Curiously, after the first treatment, I felt like I could sleep for 24 hours!

This is the most successful thing I've ever tried!...

I came with a completely open mind because I have been living with a lot of pain since I was 16. I am now 85 years old. I was in an accident which resulted in un-diagnosed spinal issues which resulted in living with many discs out of alignment, deterioration, and constant pain. The most recent pain has been in my left shoulder; the muscles were trying to do something they were ill-equipped to do. The pain there has been constant and acute for more than 2 years. 

So, when my brother suggested I try Josh's Thor Laser therapy, I thought, ‘’I have nothing to lose’’. By the end of the session, I was out of pain, and even the next day, and even coming back to England and moving things and doing things I shouldn't do. Still no pain 10 days later! I can feel it just starting to niggle back, so I am searching for someone to be able to give me the same treatment here. Then there was the shooting pain across my lower abdomen that I'd been dealing with as a consequence of an infection that I am fighting with antibiotics. By the end of the treatment, that pain had also disappeared and has not returned. 

​Then there were my swollen legs and ankles, something that had never happened to me before, that happened as a result of my trans-Atlantic flight. I was so concerned about it. Again, the swelling went down the next day. I did a 10-hour trip the next day coming home and the swelling has not returned. That was the most amazing thing! All that in only one treatment!

I've been there, tried so many things over the years to get out of pain, and this is the most successful thing I've ever tried!
